Digic Pictures have their new site up http://www.digicpictures.com/ I like what they said in the 'Career opportunities' page, it's good advice. This post has been edited by Popbot: 5 Sep 2010, 11:04 AM |

Not really - someone else has done the hard work - design interesting characters, he's just made low poly models of their designs. Why on earth he's making such low poly models is beyond me, games stopped being that low poly in the late 1990s! And then rendering the images without any filtering - I guess he wants to work on PC games in 1996 really badly but is 14 years too late... very strange.

Im pretty sure he participates in the low poly challenge on polycount
As for being that low poly from what ive read on the polycount forums i think its based on the average polys used on background characters on the DS (i could be wrong here) and for the rendering without antialiasing and filtering is part of the 'style', at least thats what it says in the contest guide |

Just google him, becuase i can't find his work in one place:
"Al Hirchfeld" I love his technique, he manages to put down enough line information and detail to make it readable, without being too superfluous. |

well. We are doing a game where one level is about 500 polygons. And WC3 reign of chaos mid class character is around 300 tris and hero aroun 800. The game is still very popular. =)
And here is my inspiration: Trine 2 Concept art by Juhani Jokinen ![]() ![]() I am working woth this guy =) here is his thread on conceptart org: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthrea...highlight=trine This post has been edited by ahtiandr: 7 Sep 2010, 08:35 AM |

What we have here is modern day game art sensibilites with old restrictive techniques - I feel a lot of old PC games suffered from poor or washy art direction, it's great to see such a strong art style being pulled off like this and see how it compares. Think of it as minimalist art or something. Another way of looking at it would be to compare it with the original TF characters..
