Are there a lot of these around hwere you used to live? They are quite bizarre structures... I have a theory that the more incompetent/corrupt/dysfunctional a form of totalitarian government is, the more it feels the need to make big sculptures to impressive everyone about how amazing it is... it's like the adage that the size of a man's dick is inversely proportional to the engine in his car

They stand tall and vigilant, remnants of a past that even 20 years later has barely washed away, met with nothing but disgust from those who remember, and sneers of derision from those who are young enough to have been spared of the tyranny, but hardly spared of its consequences. Every larger town has something they wish they didn't :
