GAMES JAM
Teams of talented students from universities across the region have 24 hours to design and develop their own game, using Unity Games Development Software or Unreal. Teams will be multi-disciplinary, covering all areas of gaming including design, engineering and audio. The completed games will be exhibited at the end of the seminar on the 5th July.

• The Games Jam is a 24 hour event, running from 2pm on Sunday 4th July until 2pm on Monday 5th, with finished works being shown at the Brains Eden seminar on the Monday evening.

• Students can register by e-mailing me with details of their team (we’d prefer to accept team registrations, although if there are individuals who’d like to enter, they’d be very welcome to do so). As you’ll have seen from my flurry of e-mails last week, the deadline for registrations has officially passed, but we would be able to fit in another team or two if there is interest.

• The brief for teams will be given at the start of the event, but essentially teams will be asked to design and make a game from scratch in 24 hrs. The brief will provide a framework to do so.

• PCs will be provided, including the following software – Unity (Indie), Flexbuilder and UDK. Participants are also welcome to bring their own laptops with any other software they so wish.

• Food is provided for all participants. We have provided accommodation for those who registered before the 18th. If you’d like to enter a team I can see if we can provide accommodation for any Hertfordshire students, however I cannot guarantee this, as the deadline for entrants has officially passed and numbers confirmed with accommodation.

Sony Cambridge is also offering you a chance of 2 weeks work experience, and I should think if you are any good a possible job

To win all you have to do is make an A0 poster showcasing your best work by June 17th.

Post up an A5 image below and I will email them to him to see which ones he thinks is in for a chance and then I will get you to blow it up to full size.

This is open to anyone who would like to enter, level 1,2,3 and alumni.

I have a feeling the event winner will be a student who takes part in the 24 hr Games Jam event so I would think seriously about joining in, you can go as a team of 5 or you can turn up on your own and they will put you into a team. They will give you a room for the night, food, drink and so on.

I will see if I can pull some strings at Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge and see if they can put you up in halls failing that you can get the train from hatfield every day as Sony is a five minute walk from the station.

Does it mean many works? with wire frames? concept as well? emmmmmmm

Im assuming it will be 5 3d beauty shots? Also are we allowed to use group work, like shots from our film etc? And im guessing we have to do some sort of design for the poster with our name on etc etc. Thought id double check, you know what im like! lol

Hi everyone, yes contact details would be good as lots of other companies will be at the brains eden event like, Jagex, Ninja Theory, Zoonami, DR Studios, 505 Games and so on.

Poster...just make a poster....its a Poster....its up to you, you have to sell your self as the best student in the UK.

They just want to see a poster designed by you, you can do what ever you want, maybe one huge image maybe 100 small ones, maybe draw matchstick men playing XBOX I don't know its all up to you.
