Good day everyone, it was a while since I was posting here.
I have started working on a fish in ZBrush, and encountered a problem idk how to deal with it. I have an art work I am basicly starting to work from and a real fish reference with some fin details i want to use on my fish model but, im not sure how to make it. I want fin skin on my fish to be half transparent in between fin bones, but Im a bit confused if i should model it somehow in special way or model whatever way i want and keep that problem aside untill texturing moment comes in. any kind of advice would be appreciated http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/3293/be...mesefightin.jpg http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/8618/fishw.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/3274/fish2sq.jpg |

im not an expert but, im pretty certain that you can make semi transpareny with a texture which has an alpha channel,
so dont worry about transparency 4 now |

Yes, you'll need to paint a greyscale image for transparency - white is opaque and black is completely transparent, shades of grey equal varying levels of transparency. For something organic and complex like a fish you may also need to factor in translucency and / or blurred refraction. But worry about that level of complexity later in the course - learning to paint alpha maps or opacity maps now is a good start.
