Hello,
I was just wondering i've got an invitation for an interview on the 13th of january, and was curious on how much of the interview will be looking at Sketchbooks? I've got many pieces, but lets just say my sketchbooks arn't as good as they could be :/ Any tips?

This PDF is a good start. It's what I got sent last year.

Attached File  tips_for_applicants_Latest.pdf   124.46KB   91 downloads

Simply put: a dozen good pieces with a mix of life drawing, perspective drawing and CG modelling/animation.
I took along a laptop to show some animation I did.

Also it's really helpful to post your work here before the interview for constructive crit. Good luck!

L8R,
Adam.

On Flikr, i've got 5 of my decent life drawings, 5 of my decent pieces (Hopefully showing perspective as my topic was 'meeting places' (buildings etc) and 'The Car' which i've tried to do unusual perspective :) and some pages from my sketchbook, is the work good quality??

*EDIT*
Here's some links to my youtube, basically when i was younger and first started learning 3d etc i played on xboxlive as you do, and was asked to make intros etc so i attempted some basic animation etc, here's a few. The model of the spartan isn't mine, but the animation is.

Hi Snowed,

Like your life drawings. Would be handy if you could attend a local class for this. It gives you the opportunity to draw the entire figure and get some input from a tutor. Anatomy books are useful to get a handle on what it is your are actually drawing or modelling your 3D character design under it's surface. I recommend "The Atlas of Human Anatomy":
http://www.amazon.co...32767203&sr=8-2
and the more heavyweight "Human Anatomy for Artists":
http://www.amazon.co...32767233&sr=8-1

The 1st steps in 3D animation are always tough as the learning curve is long and hard. Good to start with a standard model to save time and work at the animation and rendering part of the process.

Regards, Geoff.

Congrats :) Get some more life drawings and you should be fine. The rest of the work is pretty good as it is. 4 lessons of lifedrawing at least will give you alot.
